> An email from the new Station Manager

Emailed: 20th July 2005

"I thought I should update you on the progress of Bailrigg FM. It is a very exciting year for the radio station as not only are we applying for a Community Radio License, but I am bringing you the news that we are likely to face a move from Fylde College.

As you may or may not know, Lancaster University is undergoing a number of changes. Departments are moving around and new student accommodation is being built on new land and where college blocks used to stand. There were, at the beginning of the academic year, rumours that the radio station was going to move. LUSU have shown their confidence in the project by allocating £30,000 in the Strategic Plan to help with the move.

Although we have not been designated a set space as yet by Estates, we are going to design our own radio station! We are scheduled to move in Easter 2006, which should, if we are granted with the Community Radio License, mean that they would both coincide. I am looking to do a Bailrigg FM alumni book showing the radio station through the years and the people who have now left and what they are doing now. I would like as many people as possible to contribute something to the book, and if you are interested, please email me.

On events, we had an extremely successful coverage of the Sabb Elections, General Elections and Roses at York (even though we didn't win!). We have decided to increase the events that Bailrigg FM has. We're starting off slowly with a bi-annual event at the Sugarhouse which will be a 'Battle of the Bands'. We are working with Lancaster University Live Unsigned Music Society (LULUMS). Plans are sketchy at the moment, but we hope that
it will be a great success!

If you would like to come and visit the radio station, you are all more than welcome. We are here over the summer!"
