"Just a little bit of an update from myself the Ass Manager. Mostly I can only repeat what Vick has said, but I've been employed by LUSU all summer to work on some of the Bailrigg FM projects she mentioned. I've been attacking the Community Radio application form with some force for many many weeks, and I think I know it back to front, inside out by now. It's mostly complete, just needs tidying up in the technical areas, and proof reading a few times. Oh and for Ofcom to wake up and start taking applications again, but since when are Ofcom ever useful ;).

I personally think compared to a lot of the competition our application is very strong and I am extremely hopeful. It's of course been useful having such a good history as a station, and the fact we're building on our current low power FM licence and we've shown our pedigree means Ofcom should be able to trust our ability to carry this through. Fingers Crossed and I'll keep everyone informed.

What else, well theres been a lot of prep for freshers week as usual, publicity etcetera. I've been trying to look after the ever dying Bailrigg computers, and I've taken delivery of a new sofa! So currently we have two, but I think sadly one needs to go as it's impossible to get to any of the drawers at the moment. Comfort is obviously more important than any admin though :)

During the course of the summer I've shown a few old members round and guided them through the mess, I think they relieved that some things never change! If anyone else would like to come visit please do, theres always someone in during term time and we should theoretically be moving to new studios at some point in the future (I shan't say near, this all relies on Estates) so I guess it's a chance to see what good things we've done with the old space (or to complain bitterly about how it was better in the old days I guess :) )

I hope to see some more of you around :)"

"As another academic year approaches, Bailrigg FM is in the process of changing. We have redecorated studio B and are on course to apply for a Community Radio Licence from Ofcom. The team have also been working hard towards Freshers Week and we’re all looking forward to seeing some ‘fresh’ enthusiasm! I am organising for the Student Radio Assoc. nominations to be in Lancaster again this year as well as starting up a joint event with the Lancaster University Live Unsigned Music Society called “Battle of the Bands”, so watch this space!"
